A 19-year-old Cincinnati man is accused of shooting his mother in Avondale and then hiding the gun inside his apartment, according to court papers.
Mario Dates is charged with felonious assault and receiving stolen property in connection with the case.
Court papers say Dates admitted to shooting his mother on Alaska Avenue Monday night while the two were sitting inside a vehicle. The firearm was allegedly hidden in his apartment after the shooting and had been reported stolen.
Police have not publicly stated what led up to the shooting. A temporary protection order has been filed, and Dates was ordered to stay away from his mother.
A judge set bond at $15,000. The charges remain allegations, and Dates is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
