[Thursday] Hughes High School Teen Charged 17-year-old arrested for sexual assault during school hours

A 17-year-old student at Hughes High School was arrested and taken into custody following reports of a sexual assault on campus during the school day.

Investigation and Charges

Cincinnati Police Department officers responded to Hughes High School after school leadership was notified of the incident. Investigators from the personal crimes unit interviewed both the victim and witnesses on September 18.

The teenage suspect currently faces severe felony charges, including attempted rape, kidnapping, and gross sexual imposition. Authorities have not released additional details regarding the ongoing investigation, but confirmed the suspect was booked into the juvenile detention center pending further court proceedings.

School District Response

Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) released a statement emphasizing that campus leadership acted immediately upon learning of the allegations. School resource officers coordinated directly with responding Cincinnati police units to secure the campus and take the suspect into custody.

"School leaders immediately contacted the school resource officer, Cincinnati police responded to the school and arrested the accused student that day, and the student who was arrested will not return to Hughes," district officials stated.
