[9/29] 1 HOSPITALIZED, 1 IN CUSTODY AFTER COLERAIN TOWNSHIP STABBING

One man was hospitalized and another was taken into custody after a stabbing at a Colerain Township home Thursday morning.

Colerain Township police said officers were sent to the 10200 block of Crestland Court at about 10:40 a.m. after receiving a report of a stabbing. Officers found a man inside his home suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was taken to UC Medical Center for treatment.

While officers were establishing a perimeter, police said a man matching the suspect's description was seen running from the area. Officers pursued and detained him. He was later identified as 28-year-old Ishmeal Mayfield.

Detectives allege Mayfield entered the man's home without permission, stabbed him multiple times and struck him several times with a shovel. Mayfield is charged with felonious assault and aggravated burglary and was taken to the Hamilton County Justice Center.
