Covington Revokes Hat Tricks Liquor License Following Shooting
The City of Covington has revoked the alcoholic beverage control license for Hat Tricks Sports Bar following a shooting that occurred at the establishment on May 16, 2026.
According to a release issued by the City of Covington, the revocation means Hat Tricks Sports Bar is no longer permitted to operate as a licensed alcoholic beverage establishment within the city.
Administrative Hearing Held
City officials said Hat Tricks Sports Bar was provided an administrative hearing regarding violations associated with the May 16 incident.
Following that hearing, city leaders determined the establishment had violated applicable regulations governing liquor licenses and local operating conditions.
Police Increasing Patrols
In response to the underlying shooting, the Covington Police Department announced plans to increase foot and bicycle patrols in the 900 block of Madison Avenue.
Police also stated marked cruisers would be positioned near the intersection of 9th Street and Madison Avenue to improve visibility and deter criminal activity.
Officials said an environmental assessment of the location and surrounding area will also be conducted as part of ongoing public safety efforts.
City Manager Responds
Covington City Manager Sharmili Reddy described the incident as unacceptable and stated that public safety remains a top priority for city leaders.
The city also confirmed that Hat Tricks owners retain the right to appeal the decision through the appropriate state board process.
